In The Jewel, we followed Violet in her servitude under the Duchess of the Lake. Now we’ll hear Raven’s story and her time as a surrogate for the Countess of the Stone in this digital novella from Amy Ewing.

When Raven is bought at the Auction, she knows immediately that things will not go well. And when she arrives at the Countess’s palace, Raven quickly discovers that the Countess is much less interested in having a baby than experimenting with Raven’s mind and body. Raven can only hope for an escape…and to see Violet again, all the while reminding herself that she is Raven Stirling, and she does matter.

Raven Stirling has been one of the most beautiful and talented of all the girls in the auction. As Lot 191, she is expected to have superb abilities a Surrogate should have in conceiving a child.

Until, the Countess of the Stone had her.

It wasn’t a child she wanted but a guinea pig who would serve as her test animal for all the crazy experiments she has. And Raven wasn’t the only one.

With every torture that the Countess inflicts, Raven, who hungers for her freedom, must find a way to get out. Will she find her way before everything destroys her?

First and for all, I would like to inform my dear readers the fact that I have included in my review of The Jewel some of the things that are quite general for the whole trilogy. To make this review short and not redundant, I decided to just state only the things that I have observed in the second book of the series. If you want to read my review of the first book, click here.
